Im Glas hellgelb, mit schöner Schlierenbildung. Die Nase präsentiert sich ruhig und präzise. Mineralität umspült von einem Hauch Steinobst. Am Gaumen recht jugendlich und frisch. Straff und fein strukturiert, mit elegantem, aber langen Abgang.

The Riesling grapes were selectively harvested by hand without botrytis. The whole clusters rested overnight on the mash and were pressed in the early morning. The juice flowed free-fall into the wine cellar where the wine fermented in steel tanks. Until bottling, the wine was on the fine lees for about a year.
Coming from Langenlois, one climbs up the Schenkenbichl, leaves the Käferberg behind on the way to Schiltern and reaches the single-vineyard Steinberg. A plateau site characterized by primary rock on which our Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and part of Zweigelt stands. The base of the soil is formed by gneiss, mica schist and quartzite, but also amphibolites.
After a dry and warm winter, the season started quite normally. A very warm and sunny April did little to accelerate development, as it was accompanied by extreme dryness that lasted for weeks. May saw great amounts of rainfall, and June was also very damp and changeable. Flowering occurred at the usual average time and was generally unproblematic. A good old-fashioned summer followed, characterized by alternating sunny and rainy periods, with neither long heatwaves nor temperature spikes. After all, 2020 was a cool influenced vintage, resulting in wines with lower alcohol and a lot of elegance.
