Ried Langenloiser Steinberg

Riesling

Rich yellow in the glass, with pronounced streaks. The nose is intense. Minerality and fruit vie for attention. Taut and finely structured on the palate, with an elegant but long finish.

Vinifikation

The Riesling grapes were selectively harvested by hand without botrytis. The whole grapes rested overnight on the skins and were pressed early in the morning. The juice flowed freely into the vaulted cellar, where the wine fermented in steel tanks. This took just over a year for the 2021 vintage. The wine remained on the fine lees until bottling.

Single-Vineyard: Ried Langenloiser Steinberg

Coming from Langenlois, one climbs up the Schenkenbichl, leaves the Käferberg behind on the way to Schiltern and reaches the single-vineyard Steinberg. A plateau site characterized by primary rock on which our Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and part of Zweigelt stands. The base of the soil is formed by gneiss, mica schist and quartzite, but also amphibolites.

Vintage 2021

The season started with a very dry spring, that was only interrupted by a cool and wet May. Throughout the summer we experienced some hail on the single vineyards Steinberg and Kittmannsberg, however, we were fortunately spared from bigger damages. Ripeness really accelerated on the back of a sunny and relatively warm late summer. The vintage shows wines with good acidity, yet good ripeness, and therefore we expect a high longevity.
